The 2009 U.K. Troupe from Tyler Civic Theatre Center will perform excerpts from the "Mark Twain Show"� for the Newcomers Club of Tyler on Friday, August 8 at 12:30 p.m.

The general purpose of the Troupe is to give the young actors the opportunity to perform outside the U.S. and see English speaking theatre performed in other countries. Tyler Civic Theatre was accepted by the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) as an examination site. The Troupe members successfully completed their first exams in April, 2008. In 2009, they will attend workshops at both the Globe Theatre and LAMDA.

Nine of the Troupe's 23 members performing for the Newcomer's Club are: Shanna-Kay Betts, 16, of New Harmony, Alan Cannon, 14, of Whitehouse, Zac Carnes, 16, of Chandler, Jared Clayton, 16, of Tyler, Tara Moore, 14, of Lindale, Timothy Priest, 16, of Whitehouse, Hayley Spires, 12, of Hidaway, Bret Thompson, 13, and Elissa Thompson, 16, of Tyler. Francis Whiteside is co-producer of "The Mark Twain Show"� and DeAnna Hargrove, education director at TCTC, is the play's director.

The Newcomers Club of Tyler invites new residents of Tyler (within the past two years) to join them for their regular monthly meeting at the First Christian Church Life Center, 4202 South Broadway at Loop 323, on Friday, August 8 at 9:00 A.M. for social, games, luncheon and program. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Call Judy Bayless at 903-533-8773 by noon on Wednesday, August 6. Lunch is $10 and will be served at 11:45 A.M. The program will follow.
