Dede Smith Named Fine Arts Teacher Of The Year
All Saints Episcopal School Teacher Dede Smith was named the 2007-08 4A Fine Arts Teacher of the Year at the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) awards banquet in San Antonio in June.

Mrs. Smith has served as the sculpture and ceramics teacher at All Saints for seven years.

During that time she has co-led the All Saints Art Department with Millie Piwonka to six state art championships, including 2008. Mrs. Smith began the sculpture and ceramics program at All Saints.

“I’m glad to represent All Saints in this recognition,” Mrs. Smith said.

“I consider it a great honor for me personally and for our school. All Saints is a terrific school and it is so supportive of the arts that it deserves this award as much as I do.”

Mrs. Smith also praised her students.

“They are the reasons that we’ve won state six times — because they’re so talented and it’s such a pleasure to work with such talented students.”
