Chamber Sends Out Call For Windsor Award Recommendations
The Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce announced it is receiving recommendations for the annual W.C. Windsor Award. Nomination forms are available at the chamber offices, 315 N. Broadway Ave.
The award will be presented at the chamber’s annual meeting, Oct. 7 at Harvey Convention Center.
Deadline for return of nomination forms to the offices is 5 p.m. Aug. 8. The forms have also been mailed to civic leaders in the community.
The W.C. Windsor award is given to a person between the ages of 21 and 40, who is a Tyler resident and has exhibited the “greatest activity and achievement in community betterment,” according to information from the chamber.
The award was established in 1952 by the late civic leader W.C. Windsor. It was founded to encourage development of young leadership in the community.
The award recipient will be determined by a committee of community leaders appointed by the chamber.
The meeting will also include T.B. Butler Publishing Co. Inc.’s presentation of the T.B. Butler Award.
The T.B. Butler Award was established in memory of the founder of T.B. Butler Publishing Co. Inc., the late Judge T.B. Butler, and his son, the late Tom Butler Jr.
Award recipients are selected for outstanding contributions in leadership, service or community improvements. The T.B. Butler Award has been given annually since 1929.
Other awards to be presented at the meeting include the chamber’s Volunteer of the Year Award, the Business of the Year awards for large and small businesses and the Contact Club’s Outstanding Production Awards.
