Black Tie Bingo Gala On Saturday
Heart of Tyler will host a Black Tie Bingo gala Saturday to raise funds for the Heart of Tyler Main Street Program.

The event will run from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Discovery Science Place annex, 302 N. Broadway Ave. Tickets are $100 per person and the cost includes bingo cards, food and drinks. All of the proceeds go to support Heart of Tyler, the city’s only nonprofit organization dedicated to revitalizing downtown Tyler.

Four bingo games will be held, with winners receiving one of the following prizes:

  • A downtown “daycation” including a massage and other prizes for two from Balance Pilates Studio, as well as lunch for two at a downtown restaurant;

  • A 32-inch television and movie package;

  • Tickets to a Dallas Cowboys game, plus a travel package complete with lodging and movie passes;

  • A $500 Brookshire’s gasoline gift card.

    The theme for the evening is “A Night at the Movies,” with a nod to Tyler’s downtown movie theaters, one of which is undergoing renovation to become a downtown performance center and headquarters for the East Texas Symphony Orchestra.

  • Beverly Abell, Heart of Tyler director, said guests can participate in several other events Saturday night, including a game of “Dead or Alive.” Guests will hear a movie star’s name and try to guess whether the person is dead or alive. The winner will receive a Festival on the Square VIP package.

    Guests will also have the chance to bid on several pieces of original artwork by East Texas artists in a silent auction.

    “This is in keeping with Heart of Tyler’s emphasis on the arts as an economic development tool,” Ms. Abell said.

    A limited number of tickets is still available by contacting Heart of Tyler at 903-593-6905. More information is also available by visiting www.heartoftyler.com/blacktiebingo.
