Dixon Leads Pump Jacks By Brazos Valley Bombers
KILGORE Bryan Dixon tossed six shutout innings as the East Texas Pump Jacks downed the Brazos Valley Bombers, 3-1, on Wednesday night at Driller Park.
Dixon (3-1) struck out five and allowed just two hits for the win.
Michael LaCourse, a former Tyler Junior College standout, struck out four in two innings of relief and Aaron Wilkerson pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his third save of the season.
Sam Strickland (1-4) suffered the loss, despite allowing one run on five hits in six innings. He struck out five and walked four.
Jared Wondra got the Pump Jacks (17-20) on the board in the fourth inning with an RBI single, scoring Paige Hodges.
East Texas added two more in the seventh inning when Matt Curry and Pat McCrory scored on a throwing error by Brazos Valley (18-20) shortstop Danny Hernandez.
Brazos Valleys only run of the night came in the eighth inning on a home run by Drew Thomas.
The same two teams face each other for a two-game series in Bryan, beginning at 7:05 p.m. tonight.
