Longview Man Left in Roadway After Being Beaten and Having Car Stolen
LONGVIEW — Police are looking for a person who beat a man, stole his car and left him in the roadway this morning.

Longview Police Public Information Officer Kevin Brownlee said officers responded to the intersection of Jarvis Avenue and Roosevelt Street for a report of a prone person in the roadway.

“Longview officers and Emergency Medical Services responded to the location and found Stephen Sawyer, 45 years old, of Longview, with injuries to his head. Sawyer was able to tell officers that an unknown person assaulted him and took his red SUV," Brownlee said in a prepared statement.

Brownlee said officers searched the area and found Sawyer’s vehicle in a wooded area west of Stamper Park on Molton Street.

He added there is currently no suspect description available for release and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Gregg County Crime Stoppers at 903-236-7867 or Detective Eric Hewitt at 903-237-1151.
