July 23: Time To Speak Out
I read a book by Ken Connor and John Revell titled "Sinful Silence - When Christians Neglect their Civil Duty".
It is my opinion every Christian, especially pastors, should read this eye opening revelation. The main theme of the book is based on the first chapter of Isaiah, which deals with the sins of Judah and Israel. In verse 9 the countrymen are addressed as though they were rulers of Sodom and Gomorrah. Verse 15 should be an example to today's Christian world. God says, "I will hide my eyes from you; even though you offer many prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are full of blood. Wash and make yourself clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight."
Should we refer to Old Testament writings for warnings today: 1 Corinthians 10:11 gives a definite yes. Among many other sins we are allowing today is abortion, which is likened to verse 15 in Isaiah, "your hands are full of blood."
In the opinion of writers of "Sinful Silence;" since God has given us the duty of selecting our leaders, anyone who votes for a person they know to be pro-abortion is guilty of having blood on their hands. They and I believe pastors and teachers who fail to warn their congregations they should not cast a vote for those who are pro-abortion also have blood on their hands.
I have heard many prayers asking God to give us Christian leaders and save our nation. Could it be he has grown weary of our sins as in Isaiah and will not listen to our prayers? I cannot answer that but I do know it is time for Christians to speak out and get involved in civic government and defeat the ACLU by opposing their favorite weapon of "separation of church and state."
