Pavement Work on Highway 271 Continues This Week
Texas Department of Transportation construction crews are scheduled to continue pavement work on U.S. Highway 271 this week between Interstate 20 and Farm-to-Market 2015, north of Tyler.

Beginning as early as Tuesday, crews are scheduled to apply a seal coat in the southbound lanes, including the intersection of 271 and State Highway 155, in front of the University of Texas Health Science Center. Hot-mix surfacing is still underway on both north and southbound lanes.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress, and loose gravel may be present during and after seal coating, TxDOT officials have said. They are encouraging motorists to seek alternative routes, if possible, to avoid delays and to be prepared to reduce speed in and around work zones.

Also, construction crews will continue pavement repair on Old Jacksonville Highway between Grande Boul-evard and FM 2813 in Gresham this week. Crews have been applying a seal coat and will apply a final layer of hot mix through the first week in August, weather permitting.

Lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress.
