Lamar Edges Tyler East, 3-2
Cameron Boudreaux’s solo home run in the seventh inning lifted Lamar American past Tyler East National, 3-2, Saturday night at Faulkner Park in the opening game of the Major League division in the Texas East State Little League tournament.
Boudreaux’s one-out homer put Lamar (1-0) into the winner’s bracket, while Tyler East (0-1) will face elimination today against Bellaire. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The game was dominated by solid pitching and clutch homers.
With Tyler East trailing 2-0, Patrick Day smacked Ramon Gonzales’ 0-2 pitch over the fence for a game-tying, two-run shot in the fourth inning. Day also had a double, collecting two of Tyler’s three hits.
Reid Garrett picked the victory in relief of Gonzales, who struck out nine in 5 1-3 innings.
Day suffered the loss, despite punching out five in three innings of relief. Patrick Mahomes received a no-decision for Tyler after fanning eight in four innings.

Ty Miller smashed a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning to help Tyler East build the lead for good in a victory against Lamar National.
Tyler East was also led by Tanner Batten (pitching victory; 2-for-3 with two runs at the plate) Parker Bramlett (2-for-4, three runs), Call Florence (two hits) and Tully Greer (two hits).
Tyler East returns to action tonight against First Colony.

Hunter Ranly hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth to lift Lamar American to a thrilling win over Orwall American in the 10-11 Year-Old League Texas East State Little League tournament opener at Faulkner Park.
Ranly added a hit in the first inning to finish 2-for-5.
After combining for just four runs through six innings, the teams posted a total of 17 over three extra frames.
Lamar scored seven runs in its final at-bat to pull out the win.
