Showers Possible Sunday, Monday
More isolated showers and thunderstorms were moving over the southern counties Saturday afternoon, with that activity likely to return Sunday and Monday ahead of possibly more significant rainfall at mid-week.

A tropical upper air low was moving along the Texas/Mexican border near Laredo, with a trough line extending northeastward into East Texas. In addition, available moisture was high about 1.75 inches of precipitable water. Though the trough will likely weaken somewhat on Sunday and Monday, strong daytime heating will still probably trigger a few isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

Otherwise, skies were fair overnight and Saturday morning, and partly cloudy with cumulus development Saturday afternoon.

Saturday’s temperatures ran near Friday’s and were near normal. Higher readings are likely Sunday and Monday, with a few stations app-roaching the century mark Monday afternoon.

Low readings were up to 5 degrees warmer Saturday than Friday, running from the high 60s to middle 70s. Similar low temperatures are forecast for Sunday through Tuesday mornings.

Afternoon high readings were a couple of degrees lower because of the increased cloud cover and slight weakening in the upper air high with the presence of the trough line. They were in the lower to middle 90s.
