Around East Texas: Marvin UMC Sets ‘Price Hill’ In Free Concert
Marvin United Methodist Church, 300 W. Erwin St., will present the Austin-based band, “Price Hill,” at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The event is free.

The band seeks to build relationships with students, churches and other ministries, said information from Marvin UMC. The group members’ diverse musical backgrounds create a unique style of contemporary praise music with catchy melodies and lyrics from the heart. Their goal is to share the awe and wonder of God’s glory.

  • The Evangelism ministry of the Original east Texas Baptist Association will present an “Evangelism Workshop” from 10 a.m. to noon today at the New Baptist Evangelistic Church, 128 Willowbrook Ave. The Rev. Arthur and Nancy Cash of the Lakeview Church of the Nazarene and Evangelist Sandra J. Allen of the Progressive Church will guest speakers.

  • The theme of the event is “Adventures With Jesus in Evangelism.”

  • Life Worship Center of Tyler has announced the appointment of the Rev. Dan Moore as executive pastor. Moore is former manager of Bluebonnet Publishing and was publisher of the Lindale News and Times for more than six years.

  • He served for more than 30 years with Church on the Rock, International, the Church of God and the Pentecostal Holiness denominations.

    “It’s a great honor to work with Senior Pastor Rudy Bond and the staff and congregation of New Life,” said Moore. Moore and his wife, Ann, have lived in Texas for nine years.

  • Sisters In Christ Helping to Eliminate Domestic Violence will hold a garage sale beginning at 8 a.m. at Church of the Living Hope, 3308 Highway 69 North. All proceeds will go towards the organization’s second Survivors & Overcomers Banquet, said information from Sisters In Christ.
