At Least 32 Hurt as Wrecks Close Westbound I-20 Near Longview
LONGVIEW (AP) -- At least 32 people were injured Friday in a traffic pileup involving as many as 15 vehicles on a stretch of Interstate 20 near Longview.
Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Jean Dark said two of the injured, including a toddler, were flown to a hospital in Tyler. She said the young boy suffered a cracked skull in the accident. Dark said there were no deaths.
Several tractor-trailers were involved in the pileup, which occurred at a point where traffic began to be restricted to one lane of traffic, the trooper said. Vehicles were being diverted from the interstate on Friday night and it wasn't clear when the highway would reopen.
The pileup occurred about 5:45 p.m.
