A 37-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday to 18 years in prison for molesting two teenage siblings.
David Wayne Minor pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by sexual contact for molesting a girl when she was 14 or 15 in September 2007. He also pleaded guilty to indecency with a child by sexual contact for molesting the girl’s 13-year-old brother.
Minor faced two to 20 years in prison for the second-degree felonies and was sentenced to 18 years and assessed a $5,000 fine by 114th District Judge Cynthia Stevens Kent. The defendant will serve the sentences at the same time and will be eligible for parole after serving nine years.
Assistant Smith County District Attorney Jason Parrish said the girl, who appears to have been molested more than once by Minor at his residence, told her mother, who then contacted police.
While he was being interviewed by Whitehouse Police Detective Mary Pyle, Minor confessed to touching both children, Parrish said.
He said no sexual assault examinations were performed on the children because the offenses happened months before the outcries were made.
Defense attorney Rex Thompson represented the defendant.
