Low Humidities Expected This Week
There were only a few widely scattered showers over the central and western counties Tuesday afternoon, with the remainder of the week promising to be dry, seasonably warm, and with unusually comfortable relative humidities.

The mid-summer cold front remained in the area Tuesday afternoon, extending northwest-to-southeast along roughly a Sherman-Lufkin line. East of the front, the air mass was dry, while humid air remained west of it.

The slightly cooler and drier air was provided by surface high pressure, centered over the Ohio River Valley. This ridge is forecast to build into the region on Wednesday and Thursday. The result should be slightly below normal nighttime temperatures with near normal afternoon high readings.

Tuesday’s temperatures averaged a degree or so lower than Monday’s, and were about 2 degrees below normal. Temperatures through the end of the week should run near normal.

Low readings Wednesday and Thursday mornings should be similar to Tuesday’s, with 70-degree readings region-wide for Friday morning. High readings Wednesday through Friday should be in the 90s.

Tyler’s high temperature of 91 came at 5:37 p.m., with readings holding in the middle 80s through the afternoon. The day’s low of 72 came at 4:53 a.m.
