Tyler East Team Eliminated
BRENHAM -- The Tyler East Senior League All-Stars were eliminated in the Sectional round of state Little League Tournament action today, falling to Bryan West, 12-9.
Tyler East had leads of 5-0 and 8-5 that it could not hold. With the game tied at 8 in the top of the seventh, a Bryan West player hit a grand slam home run that turned out to be the difference.
Nine of the 12 Bryan West runs were unearned, according to Terry Cannon, Tyler Paper staffer and parent of team member Zach Cannon. The younger Cannon hit a home run a double and drove in three runs for the Tyler team. Dalton Stroud and Brent Corley each hit a solo home run.
