Faulty Ceiling Fan Believed to Have Sparked Lindale Fire
LINDALE — A faulty ceiling fan is believed to be the cause of a fire that destroyed a Lindale home Monday afternoon.

Smith County Fire Marshal Jim Seaton said the fire broke out about 3:45 p.m. Monday at the home located on County Road 450.

Lindale, Van and Mineola fire departments all responded to the scene, but the home was a total loss.

“The cause seems to be a ceiling fan that locked up, causing a resistance in the wiring and starting an attic fire,” he said.

Seaton said no one was injured in the fire.
