Moore Cheerleaders Take Highest Honors At Camps
Moore Middle School Cheerleaders
Moore MST Middle School cheerleaders, two individual teams and the mascot, returned from Universal Cheerleader Association camps with the highest honors for the fifth year in a row.

The traditional team attended UCA camp at the University of Texas at Tyler June 30-July 2. The 18-member team won camp champions in the home dance division, cheer camp champions and received the Superior Team award.

Moore’s competition team attended UCA camp at Baylor University June 16-19. The 23-member team won camp champions in the home dance division, cheer camp champions, and the Superior Squad trophy. They also won the Top Banana award for having the most spirit out of the 36 teams attending camp.

Moore’s mascot, Amanda Donavan, won mascot camp champ.

The traditional team, the competition team, and the mascot each won UCA’s prestigious honor, the leadership award. The leadership award is the only camp honor that is chosen by the other teams attending camp. The winning team must show consistent spirit, tremendous team unity and set an example other teams want to follow.

“It is a huge honor for any team to win this award, but it is extremely special to know that varsity teams voted for our middle school girls,” says Lana Cain, the teams’ coach. “It speaks volumes about the atmosphere of our school, and even our district, to know that our competition team won this honor when there were 26 high school teams at Baylor who could have been chosen. Then when our traditional team and mascot each received leadership awards two weeks later at a different camp, it was icing on the cake.”

Several outstanding individuals were honored with specialty awards as well. Alexis Crowder won Cheer Jump Queen, while Amanda Donavan won Mascot Jump Queen. Dance Diva awards went to Jillian Kegler, Kabrea Pipkins, Mia Shelton, Kaleigh Smith, and Kelsey Stewart.

Named to the All Star team were Alyssa Anderson, Laura Brown, Briana Callier, Alexis Crowder, Amanda Donavan, Reagan Freeman, Emily Hawk, Erin Hicks, Madi Johnson, Brittney Jones, Mary Kate Murphy, Krista Painter, Kabrea Pipkins, Jackie Ramos, Mia Shelton, and Kelsey Stewart.

This is Cain’s sixth year as Moore’s cheer coach. Under her direction Moore has won two state-level cheer titles, one state-level dance championship, and dozens of regional championships. They’ve performed in Dallas Cowboys halftime shows as well as the nationally televised Hollywood Christmas Parade in Hollywood, California.
