Man Dies Following Motorcycle Collision
FLINT — A Palestine man riding his motorcycle was killed from injuries suffered in an accident on Tuesday afternoon.

Melvin Knowles, 65, was pronounced dead at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler by Smith County Justice of the Peace James Cowart at about 2 p.m.

According to an initial crash report by Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, Knowles, on his 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle, tried to take evasive action after a Lexus SUV driven by a Bullard woman pulled out and attempted to cross four lanes of traffic to enter another parking lot.

They collided in a business driveway approximately 200 yards south of County Road 2661, the report said.

An earlier story about the accident incorrectly described the vehicles’ movement.
