American Eagle Regional Jets, New Schedule Will Come to Tyler in September
American Eagle will bring regional jets and a new flight schedule to Tyler Pounds Regional Airport sooner than previously announced, the airline confirmed.
“We did move up the start date from Nov. 1 to Sept. 3,” said Andrea Huguely, spokeswoman. “We just had jets that became available, due to all the schedule changes.”
The airline previously said it would reduce the frequency of its flights from five per day to three per day. According to a schedule on American Airlines’ Web site, the new schedule will have flights departing Tyler for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport at 7 a.m., 11:25 a.m. and 4:35 p.m.
Last month, AMR Corp., which includes American Airlines and American Eagle, announced it would switch from turboprop planes to regional jets for the Tyler-to-D/FW service and reduce flight frequency.
The airline has served Tyler with Saab turboprops.
Seating capacity on a regional jet would be slightly less in three flights than the Saab could carry in five flights, Ms. Huguely previously said.
