The orange-fanny-pack-adorned man who lost his pants while running from police last week was arrested Thursday night in connection with the Family Dollar Store robbery in the Westwood Shopping Center, Tyler Police Department Public Information Officer Don Martin announced today.

Tyler Police arrested Maurice B. Cain, 59, Thursday night at his home Thursday night and transported him to Smith County Jail, where he remains incarcerated. Bond was set at $250,000.

Martin previously said the man, believed to be armed, robbed the Family Dollar in the Westwood Shopping Center at the corner of SSW Loop 323 and Texas Highway 31 West at 12:42 p.m. on Wednesday.

He said after entering the store, the suspect took an item and acted as though he would pay. He then raised his shirt, displaying an orange fanny pack, which appeared to contain a gun, and shouted "Give me all your money."

The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money and fled into a wooded area behind the store, where a trained K9 found most of his clothing.

After investigation, evidence technicians discovered fingerprints on the glass door of the Dollar Store and cross-matched his identity through their computer system.
