Rain May Come to Area by Midweek
Warm and dry weather is likely in East Texas for most of the next several days.
Over the southern counties, there could be a few isolated late-day showers from the sea- breeze front.
Over the remainder of the area, a weak upper air disturbance, crossing at mid-week, might also bring scattered showers and thunderstorms Wednesday and Thursday.
Otherwise, temperatures will be near normal values under upper air high pressure.
This was Sunday’s weather. The sea-breeze brought showers inland as far north as Houston County about 60 miles south-southwest of Tyler.
The showers over South Arkansas Saturday afternoon built farther southwestward Saturday evening, with Hot Springs picking up 0.08 inch 240 miles northeast of Tyler.
Temperatures ran near Saturday’s and were near normal.
Low readings were from the high 60s to lower 70s, with low-70 degree readings likely the next three mornings.
Afternoon high temperatures were in the lower to middle 90s, with similar high temperatures forecast for Monday through Wednesday.
In the immediate Tyler area, daytime readings may run a degree or so higher since the center of the upper air high pressure ridge will be just about overhead.
Winds Sunday were southerly at 5-15 mph. Similar winds are likely through mid-week.
Tyler’s highest sustaining wind Sunday was southwesterly at 15 mph with a peak gust of 17 mph, and an average velocity of 7.8 mph. Saturday’s average wind velocity was 8.2 mph.
Sunday’s average relative humidity was 63 percent, with similar values likely Monday and Tuesday. Saturday’s average was also 63 percent.
Tyler’s high temperature of 94 came at 5:24 p.m., following the day’s low of 73 at 6:57 a.m.
