Tyler East Wins Major League Series
Tyler East and Tyler West squared off in a battle to determine the District 10 major league champion.
The East emerged victorious, following a 4-1 win Friday to complete a sweep of their three-game series at Faulkner Park.
Tyler East was led by pitcher Pat Mahomes, who fanned 10 and gave up one run in the victory. The West was equally strong, thanks to Tyler Jones, who finished with seven strikeouts.
Both starters went until their mandated pitch count forced them to be relieved in the sixth.
East did all of its damage in the second inning, highlighted by a two-run home run from Laker Whitaker. Mahomes then reached on an error followed by a single from Jake Parker. Both runners came around to score on Trace Reeds two-run double.
Mahomes blanked the West for three innings before lefty pinch hitter Carter Skeen smacked the first pitch he saw over the left-field wall for a solo homer.
Both pitchers continued to wrack up stats. Mahomes nearly went the distance, but left in the sixth with two outs. Parker came in and struck out the last batter to end the game.
