The entry deadline for the 38th Texas State Open at The Cascades Second Chance Qualifying is today at 5 p.m.

All entries must be received by the Northern Texas PGA via online, facsimile, or in person by this time. This is the final opportunity to qualify for the Championship, and a minimum of 16 spots will be available.

The Second Chance Qualifying is scheduled for Tuesday at The Cascades Golf Club, with the overflow site slated for Hollytree Country Club, both in Tyler.

The Texas State Open at The Cascades is a 72-hole stroke play event consisting of 156 professionals and amateurs playing for an estimated purse of $125,000. The field will play 36 holes before being cut to the low 55 scores and ties.

All four rounds will be contested at The Cascades Golf Club. Unless otherwise exempt, professionals and amateurs gained access into the Texas State Open via an 18-hole qualifying event conducted at 23 sites in Texas and surrounding states during the month of June.

The field will be comprised of successful qualifiers and the following exempt players, if they choose to participate:

Past champions;

The top 15 professionals and top three amateurs from the 2007 Texas State Open;

The top 25 players from both the Northern Texas and Southern Texas PGA 2007 Player of the Year standings;

PGA Tour members who reside in the state of Texas;

The championship host professional;

The 2008 Texas State Amateur Champion;

The 10 leading money winners on the 2008 NTPGA Players Tour;

2007 Texas Legends Junior Tour Boys 15-18 Player of the Year;

The 2008 Tylerpaper.com Junior Champion;

The 2008 Tyler City Champion;

And the top amateur and professional on the 2008 Senior Associates’ Tour Points List at the conclusion of event No. 4.

Also, the first 10 professionals with a three-person amateur team for the Tuesday, July 15 UST Texas State Open Pro-Am receive an exemption.

The 38th Texas State Open at The Cascades is presented by Ashworth, KETK NBC 56, Park Cities Bank, Residence Inn Marriott, Tyler Coca-Cola, and UST Shafts.
