Warming Trend Expected To Begin Today
A warming trend should begin in East Texas on Wednesday with near normal temperatures and shower chances for the upcoming holiday weekend.

Surface high pressure continued building into the area from the northeast on Tuesday. This resulted in relatively mild temperatures, mostly clear skies, low humidities, and a light northeast to east wind.

Tuesday’s temperatures ran a couple of degrees below Monday’s, and were about 6 degrees below normal. Wednesday’s temperatures should run a couple of degrees warmer, with readings back to normal values by Thursday.

Low temperatures Tuesday morning were unusually cool, running from near 60 to the middle 60s. These were close to record levels, with Tyler’s 5:13 a.m. low of 62 a degree above the lowest temperature for the date, which occurred in 1950. Minimum temperatures Wednesday morning should again be in the 60s, with low 70-degree readings for Thursday and Friday mornings. Afternoon high temperatures were from the high 80s to lower 90s, with lower 90-degree high readings forecast Wednesday through Friday.

Skies were clear to fair, with partly cloudy conditions likely Wednesday and Thursday before mostly cloudy conditions develop Friday and continue through the weekend.

Winds should shift into the south by Wednesday morning, and remain light and southerly for the remainder of the week.

Tyler’s highest sustaining wind Tuesday was southeasterly at 10 mph with a peak gust of 14 mph and an average velocity of 3.3 mph. Monday’s average wind velocity was 3.5 mph.

Tuesday’s average relative humidity was 62 percent, with increasing values likely daily through Friday.
