Volentine Captures Seventh Straight Tournament Victory
CANTON — Trey Volentine won his seventh straight tournament and Tylerites Kelsey Kipp and Christopher Wilhelmi captured wins Monday at the Northern Texas PGA’s Van Zandt Golf Tournament at Van Zandt Country Club.

Volentine fired a 3-over 75 to win the Boys 14-15 division by two strokes over Canton’s Eric Walters (77). Canton’s Sam Huddle was third with a 78, while Tyler’s Patrick Bosley and Longview’s Blake Dickerson tied for fourth at 79. Rounding out the top 10 were: Austin King, Tyler, 81; Connor Barbe, Longview, 83; Christopher Brooks, Tyler, 84; G Grimes, Quitman, 85; and Teal Willis, Rockwall, 87.

Kipp won the Girls 15-18 division with a 4-over 76, three strokes ahead of Chantry McMahan (79). Whitney Johnson of Canton was third at 92, while Kilgore’s Courtney Hodgkins was fourth at 96. Katie Hibbs of Kemp was fifth at 97.

Wilhelmi captured the Coed 7-9 with a 7-over 43.

In the Boys 16-18, Longview’s Michael Stuckey and Brandon Sledge tied for first with a 78, one stroke ahead of David Alexander of Ben Wheeler (79). Tying for fourth with 80s were Adam Perry of Sulphur Springs and Tim Wilson of Shreveport, La.,

Rounding out the top 10 were: Taylor McAdoo, Bullard, 81; Chase Barbe, Longview, 83; David Eubanks III, Mabank, 83; Courtes Walker, Sulphur Springs, 83; and Haden Duke, Richardson, 84.

Rockwall’s Carlos de los Santos III won the Boys 12-13 division with a 75, six strokes ahead of Hideaway’s D.J. Godoy (81). Athens’ Alexander Hammac was third with an 88.

Garrett Landers of Sulphur Springs claimed the Boys 10-11 division with a 36, four strokes ahead of July Latimer of Athens (40). Ryan Huddle of Canton was third at 42, while Tyler’s Parker Freeman and Sulphur Springs’ Brody Blackman tied for fourth at 45. Rounding out the top eight were: Brock Bozeman, Canton, 47; Daulton Fritcher, Canton, 50; and Zachary Hobbs, Canton, 52.

In Girls 12-14, Ariel Tidwell of Rockwall won with an 86, while Hayley Bingham of Rockwall was second at 91. Tyler’s Haley Mills was third at 92. Rounding out the top five were: Kirstie Wallace, Sulphur Springs, 93; and Ellen Dixon, Tyler, 103.
