More Chances For Storms This Weekend
High pressure, centered over northern New Mexico, brought drier air into the area on Monday. This promises another day or so of slightly below normal temperatures, with daytime readings running near normal in the lower 90s and comfortable overnight low temperatures in the 60s. The southern edge of the high is a weak cold front, which had become stationary along the Coastal Plain.

A few showers developed Monday morning to the east and south of Tyler as the boundary made its way southward through the region.

Aloft, winds continue northwesterly. This flow will weaken somewhat at mid-week, permitting the return of more humid air by Wednesday evening.

Daytime heating could set off a few showers on Thursday.

By Friday, another series of disturbances is forecast to move southeastward down the Plains, giving the area a chance for showers and thunderstorms daily this weekend.

Monday’s temperatures ran near those of Sunday, and were about 4 degrees below normal. Tuesday readings should be similar, with a couple of degrees of warming on both Wednesday and Thursday.

Low readings Monday morning were from the lower 60s in the north to the lower 70s in the south, and were 5-8 degrees cooler than on Sunday. Temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday mornings should be in the 60s, rising to the lower 70s by Thursday morning.

Afternoon high readings were from the middle 80s to the lower 90s. Low 90-degree readings are likely daily Tuesday through Thursday.

Monday’s average relative humidity was 64 percent, with slightly lower values likely Tuesday and Wednesday before the numbers increase again Thursday. Sunday’s average was 77 percent.

Tyler’s high temperature of 88 came at 4:32 p.m., following the morning’s low of 68 at 7 a.m.

The station pressure stood at 1017.7 millibars at 7 p.m. Monday. This compares with 1017.6 millibars 24 hours earlier.
