A 35-year-old Gilmer man pleaded guilty in a Tyler federal court Thursday to possessing child pornography.

William Allen Pipes admitted to possessing material involving the exploitation of minors.

On Jan. 10, his personal computer was seized from his residence while executing a search warrant. On the computer, law enforcement officials found visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to a prepared statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

During the plea hearing in U.S. Magistrate Judge John Guthrie’s court, Pipes admitted to possessing more than 300 images of child pornography. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
