East Texas Dance Teams Complete Competitions
Dance Dimensions’ Studio completed its dance year with the annual recital at Canton’s Performing Arts Auditorium. More than 200 dancers delighted the audience with many varieties of dance routines from Hip-Hop to Pointe.

More than 200 dancers delighted the audience with many varieties of dance routines from Hip-Hop to Pointe. Dancers were from East Texas including Mineola, Grand Saline, Quitman, Emory, Alba-Golden, Canton, Lindale, Yantis, Winnsboro, Hawkins, Van, Athens, Mabank, Wills Point, Edgewood, Fruitvale and Martins Mill. The talented performers ranged in ages from pre-school to high school seniors.

Prior to the recital events all four Rhythm Teams won awards in the Texas State Competition. Elite Express and Strictly Rhythm also brought home trophies from the Showcase Regional event.

SWTA (Southwestern Teachers Association) is the Texas State Competition for individual dancers and teams in this area. Dance Dimensions received these prestigious State Awards:

RHYTHM ELITE (High School) — Cassie Buchanan, Sarah Moore, Jessica Harvey, Jacy Latta, Halee Pipkin, Nicole Holmes, Falon Sliger, Danielle Wylie, Brittney Buchanan, Emmafae Mortega

First Place Pom, Hip Hop, Open and Judges’ Pick

RHYTHM EXPRESS (Junior High) — Morgan Watkins, Rayla Jones, Shelby Clanton, Brandi Holcombe, Morgan Wood, Shelby Herring, Josee Cude, Sydney Cox, Courtney Hagan, Madison Collins, K’Leigh Rhodes, Haley Stone

First Place Pom, Hip Hop, Open, Grand Champions, Judges’ Pick

STRICTLY RHYTHM (third through sixth grade) — Mikhayla Tunnell, Lauren Hawkins, Megan Sellers, Hannah Meason, Michaela Mulford, Melani Butler, Danielle Norris, Leslie Lyke, Britney Holcombe, Ashton Eichelman

First Place Pom,Jazz, Hip, Hop, Judges’ Pick, 5th Place Over-all.

LIL’ RHYTHM (Kindergarten through third grade) — Taylor Brown, Keely Crowley, Sydney Johnson, Riley Johnson, Noel L

ovette, Emily Jones, Samantha Harper, Mary Katherine Howell, Tiara Stephens, Melea Bedford.

First Place Pom, Jazz, Hip-Hop, 5th Place Overall.

DANCE SHOWCASE is an annual competition held in Tyler each year at the Caldwell Auditorium for the many dance studios in the East Texas area. Showcase is an organization providing both competitive and beneficial bases for individual dancers and dance teams. DD’s Rhythm Teams brought home these trophies and awards:

RHYTHM ELITE (High School) First Place Pom, Hip-Hop and 2nd place Open.

RHYTHM EXPRESS (Junior. High) First Place Pom

STRICTLY RHYTHM (third through sixth grade) Second Place Hip-Hop.

Tryouts for DD’s Rhythm teams for the upcoming dance year (2008-09) will be held at the Studio this month.

The summer dance season starts at that time with various classes (Pom, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Tap, Ballet) events including a Disney Dreams camp for pre-school through sixth grade and a Master Dance Camp.
