Man Dies After His Car Crashes Into Tractor-Trailer
ATHENS — A Eustace man died Wednesday when his Ford Focus crashed into a tractor-trailer.

Athens Police Lt. Mike Davis said 68-year-old Billy Dwain Wyche was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at the intersection of Loop 7 and Farm-to-Market Road 1616 Wednesday afternoon.

“For whatever reason, it appears that Mr. Wyche drove his 2007 Ford Focus under an 18-wheeler that was in a safety zone, a widened section of the highway, where the truck was attempting to make a left turn,” he said. “There was no sign of any braking from Wyche.”

Wyche was pronounced dead at the scene by Henderson County Precinct 6 Justice of the Peace Milton Adams.

Davis said Wyche’s body was sent to the Southwest Institute for Forensic Sciences in Dallas for an autopsy.
