June 22: Environment Major Concern
This is a reply to quite a few letters I have read for several months. These subjects have been the environment, global warming and oil. All of these subjects are related in a lot of ways to the economy. Of course almost everyone thinks the economy is more important than everything else. But if we did not have the right environment there would not be any reason to worry about the economy.
The world is slowly destabilizing the environment. They cut down rainforests, plow up wetlands, clear cut areas for construction, dredge the oceans, and many things to numerous to mention.
We have to stop the mindset that the economy is more important than anything else. We need to find ways that help the economy without destroying the environment.
God put every living organism here for a purpose, not for us to waste and destroy. We need to leave something here for future generations.
There is not an never-ending supply of oil here in the earth. Even if the burning of fossil fuels does not cause global warming (in my opinion it helps it along), we need to converse and reduce our dependence on it.
Almost all the politicians here, Republicans and Democrats, only care about getting re-elected and not in what is in our best interests. I think we need to vote every incumbent out of office and start with a new group. Of course, I know most will not agree.
