NEW ASSIGNMENTS

Southside Bank announced three vice president promotions.

Sheri Sims was named senior vice president and director of the Human Re-sources Depart-ment.

Ms. Sims has managed the bank's Human Re-sources Depart-ment for nearly five years and previously was vice president of human resources. Ms. Sims' professional career includes 30 years in corporate legal management. She holds professional certifications of Certified Legal Manager and Senior Profes-sional Human Resources.

Kim Col-quitt was promoted to vice president and regional manager over the bank's in-store operations.

Ms. Colquitt has worked at Southside for more than 10 years and holds a bachelor of business administration degree in organizational behavior and management from the University of Houston.

Southside promoted Suni Davis to vice president. A certified public accountant, Ms. Davis previously held a vice president's position.

She holds bachelor's degrees in finance and accounting from The University of Texas at Tyler. She is a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. Ms. Davis works in the investment department and is responsible for portfolio accounting and funds management. She assists with financial reporting.



  • Exceptional Home Care announced four new employees.

  • Leatrice Mitchell, a registered nurse, joined the Tyler home care firm. Ms. Mitchell graduated from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla., and lives in Tyler.

    Blinda S. Carnley, a registered nurse, also became part of EHC. She graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington and lives in Kilgore.

    Two li-censed vocational nurses, Bridget Hall and Marquita Larson, also joined. Ms. Hall graduated from Texarkana Community College and lives in Linden, and Ms. Larson graduated from Tyler Junior College and resides in Tyler.

    Exceptional Home Care provides home health care services to medically dependent children living at home in 44 North Central and East Texas counties.



  • ABC Supply Co. Inc. announced the promotion of Tom Birdwell, manager of its Tyler store, to managing partner.

  • Birdwell joined ABC Supply in 1986 and was named Tyler branch manager in 2003. As a managing partner, he will continue to oversee the Tyler branch and take on additional responsibility.

    ACHIEVEMENTS

    Susan Spencer, a registered nurse and staff development educator for the Maternal Child Department at Mother Frances Hospital, received the Outstanding Student Award at the Sigma Theta Tau awards dinner on May 15, Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics announced.

    Ms. Spencer is enrolled in The University of Texas at Tyler's Master of Science program.

    Also, Lee Johnson, a registered nurse, received the Quality Award of the Year. Mrs. Johnson is administrative director for quality at Mother Frances Hospital.



  • Annetta Carter, a sales professional with The Prudential Insurance Co. of America's Tyler office, qualified for membership in the Million Dollar Round Table, a premier association of financial professionals founded in 1927, Pruden-tial announced.

  • This is the sixth consecutive year Ms. Carter qualified for MDRT membership. MDRT is an international, independent association of less than 1 percent of the world's best life insurance and financial services professionals.



  • Coretta Williams, a producer with KLTV Channel 7, was among 29 Texas A&M University-Commerce graduates named a 2008 Alumni Ambassador of the campus.

  • The Alumni Ambassador distinction is the highest honor a department can bestow on a graduate, according to information from the university. Ms. Williams was honored at the 25th Annual Alumni Ambassadors Forum on campus. She is a 2003 graduate.



  • Wendy Delrie of Bark Avenue Pet Lodge and Grooming Salon in Tyler captured four first-place awards during the National Dog Groomers Association competition in Columbia, S.C., May 30-June 1, the salon announced.

  • She placed first in Terrier Tournament, Purebred Tournament, Poodle Tournament and Mixed Miscellaneous Tournament in Division B. She also won Best Groomed Dog and Overall best Groomer in Division B.

    Mark Wilson, an investment adviser for Bridge Wealth Management in Tyler, was awarded the Accredited Investment Fiduciary professional designation from Fiduciary360, an organization that offers training, tools and resources to promote a culture of fiduciary responsibility and improve the decision-making processes of fiduciaries.

    Wilson specializes in private and institutional wealth management. Fiduciary360 conducts training programs at universities in the United States and abroad.



  • Danny Carney of Dixie Paper Co. in Tyler was awarded a certificate of achievement for completing a seminar for the sales professional, conducted in Maumee, Ohio, by Spartan Chemical Co. Inc.

  • Dixie is an authorized distributor of Spartan's line of specialty maintenance products.

    NEW BUSINESS

    Gina L. Wagner announced she opened Performance Pro Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation at 4135 S. Broadway Ave. The outpatient physical therapy clinic specializes in areas that include outpatient physical therapy and rehabilitation, sports medicine, orthopedic and spine rehabilitation, sports specific training and rehabilitation, biomechanical gait analysis and custom foot orthotics. Ms. Wagner has 20 years of experience as a physical therapist and athletic trainer.

    The Hispanic Business Alliance will have a new business orientation session 6-7:30 p.m. in the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce Genecov Room. Professionals are scheduled to speak on building permits, business legal structures, basic accounting systems, sales and franchise taxes, payroll and income taxes, loan programs and business resources.     The Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce will have Business After Hours, a social and networking event for business people, 5-7 p.m. at Eagle's Bluff Country Club, 700 N. Eagles Bluff Blvd. in Bullard. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
