Pilot Arrested in Jacksonville Released After Posting Bail
RUSK (AP) -- A pilot arrested in Jacksonville when marijuana worth up to $200,000 was found in his plane is free after posting $150,000 bail.
A lawyer for 51-year-old Rodney K. Dotson of Stateline, Nev., said today his client was freed on a reduced bond.
Attorney Michael Kesler told The Associated Press that the original nearly $2 million bond was reduced in an agreement with prosecutors and the court. Dotson was released Tuesday.
Dotson was arraigned June 13 on one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of marijuana.
He was arrested the previous day at the Cherokee County Airport after being tailed by airborne law officers who had followed him from New Mexico.
If convicted, Dotson faces 2-10 years in prison and fines of up to $10,000 on each count.
Dotson also has a residence in Baton Rouge, La.
