June 15: In The Dark Ages
RESPONSE: There are facilities in and around Texas that make our hospital parking situation look like the "Dark Ages." Since the article published in Sunday's paper about my wife getting a ticket on a public street near the hospital, we have received several letters of how great "their" parking accommodations are in their city or town.

One, for example, is from a lady in Beeville, who goes to Corpus Christi for her husband's treatments, and she relates that the Spohn Hospital South has a six-tiered parking garage, many places on the street that one can park, and has never seen a policeman writing tickets for parking violations ... how nice. Cities like Corpus provide for people in need of hospital treatment. What happened to Tyler since the Middle Ages?

My point is why can't we have a city that is more attuned to the needs of people in stress situations near hospitals? We will continue to have disgruntled citizens if the streets remain in a no-parking zone. Get up to speed, Tyler zoning gurus or whomever decides on these antiquated policies.
