The John Tyler A-team remained on their ‘A’ game.
JT downed Robert E. Lee 20-7 and defeated Lindale 19-7 to stay unbeaten in the Trinity Mother Frances SportsCARE 7-on-7 passing league Thursday at Lindsay Park.
JT pitched first-half shutouts in both games and moved to 4-0 after one week of action.

REL A (1-3) bounced back in the nightcap to beat Jacksonville A 27-25 and get its first win.
Jacksonville A (2-2) also earned a split, thanks to a 32-13 win over Lindale A.

JT jumped out to a 20-0 lead behind three Jeremy Johnson touchdown passes.
Johnson hooked up with De’Trich Morgan first, Tarrington Joiner next for a diving TD, and Ky’Ordrick Black on a short score over the middle on the first drive of the second half.
Derrell Tate accounted for Lee’s lone score.
The Lion defense stiffened from there, preventing the Red Raiders from reaching the third-and-final 15-yard quadrant.

“Our defense has been relentless,” said JT 7-on-7 coach Reginald Coleman. “Sometimes we take plays off. We’re working on finishing. But overall, the ‘d’ is the strong point for us.”

The second game played out virtually the same, with JT scoring the first three TDs.
Johnson, a junior-to-be, located Morgan again for the first score, and Charlie Jackson for the final two.
Darrien Starling picked off a pass for JT near the goal-line to keep Lindale scoreless midway through the second half.
Lindale found the end zone on its last possession, when Conner Smith spotted Logan Lawrence.
Alex Eisenmann added an interception for Lindale A, which dropped to 1-3.

Both quarterbacks, Kyle Stacy and Matt Broussard, had slow starts at the beginning of the first half with only one touchdown pass each.
But the Indians came to life in the second half when cornerback Jimmy Gray set the pace by intercepting two passes back-to-back, returning one for a touchdown.
Backup quarterback Conner Smith tried to bring the Eagles back to life by throwing a touchdown pass to wideout Andrew Le. But it wasn’t enough to stop the Indians’ second-half rampage.
Stacy finished with three touchdowns, two to Terrance Canady and one to Chris Williams. The Jacksonville defense dominated with five interceptions to put the Tigers away.

Lee quarterback T.J. Scholler hooked up with Tate twice to give the Red Raiders a one-point lead to close out the first half.
A 45-yard bomb from Stacy to Terrance Canady gave the Indians back the lead in the second half.
The back-and-forth game continued. Stacy threw another scoring pass, and Scholler, two.
