June 12: Hitt Memorial Tournament Was Successful
The spirit of giving in the Tyler community was truly represented at the 15th Annual Gil Hitt Memorial Golf Tournament in support of the Tyler Independent School District Foundation at Cascades Golf Club. The event raised more than $40,000 which will be used in the Foundation activities including incentives for outstanding teachers, recognition events for students and teachers, and quality educational programs.

This year’s tournament underwriters included: Assured Benefits Administrators, Brookshire Grocery Co., Coca-Cola Bottling Co., Cooperative Teachers Credit Union, Estes, McClure and Associates Inc.; Eubanks Harris Roberts Craig Architects; EXCO Resources; John and Sarah Jacobi; FirstBank in honor of Charles Halstead; HealthFirst Third Party Administrators; Lifetouch/Prestige Portraits; Mike Pile Auto Group; Perdue, Brandon, Fielder Collins & Mott, LLP; Bonnie and Tab Beall; Petty’s Irrigation & Landscape Co. in honor of Angel Layettes; Prothro Wilhelmi and Co.; Trinity Mother Frances Health System; Tyler Junior College; Tyler Paper—Tyler Morning Telegraph; Tyler Valet Parking Services; Cavender’s Boot City; Mike Wilcox; Benchmark Industrial Services Inc.; Sharlene (Dena) Fedor Licensed Massage Therapist; Randy Stewart’s Golf Connection.

There were numerous hole, two-hole and goodie bag sponsors. The 19 teams of six players each are appreciated.

Tyler is truly a community that cares about education, supporting the outstanding teachers of Tyler ISD.
