Warm Weather Through Week For East Texas
Warm temperatures returned to East Texas Wednesday with only a few showers east of Lufkin.

Warm weather will persist Thursday and Friday, with another chance for showers and thunderstorms Saturday.

Upper air high pressure returned from the southwest Wednesday, warming temperatures. A weak sea-breeze front along with remnant energy from Tuesday’s storm system generated the isolated afternoon showers.

Wednesday’s temperatures ran about 3 degrees warmer than those of Tuesday, and were the same level above normal. Temperatures on Thursday and Friday should be similar.

Low temperatures Wednesday morning were a few degrees warmer than the rain-cooled readings of Tuesday, and ran from near 70 to the middle 70s.

Low temperatures Thursday through Saturday should also run in the lower to middle 70s. Afternoon high readings were also slightly higher than on Tuesday, and were from near 90 to the middle 90s. High readings Thursday should be similar, with slightly lower readings likely Friday and Saturday afternoons.

Skies became cloudy around dawn, with partly cloudy conditions during the afternoon. South winds at under 10 mph blew overnight, increasing to 10-20 mph during the day. Winds on Thursday and Friday should be similar to Wednesday’s. High pressure, centered off the Atlantic Coast of Florida, was pushing air into a 993-mb. Low pressure area centered over Western Kansas.

Tyler’s high temperature of 91 Wednesday came at 4:12 p.m., following the day’s low of 71 at 3:26 a.m.
