LONGVIEW — Three people — including a 7-year-old child — were shot and sent to a local hospital this afternoon when gunfire erupted in a Longview neighborhood.
Longview Police Public Information Officer Sgt. Shaun Pendleton said the shooting occurred earlier this afternoon in the 600 block of Aurel Avenue and though there were injuries, none were life-threatening.
"All of the victims were transported to Good Shepherd Hospital and two of them refused any treatment at all," he said. "The 7-year-old's injuries are very minor and everyone will be fine."
Pendleton did not say how many rounds were fired, but did say detectives were gathering evidence from the scene and interviewing witnesses.
Pendleton said several shots were fired from a semi-automatic AK-47-type assault rifle inside the house and several more were fired on the outside.
"This was not a random act and it was not gang related. The suspect was known to the victims and there had been a feud between the two parties for some time. It is a personal dispute and today it just escalated into gunfire," he said.
Pendleton said the suspect is being sought and will likely be charged with multiple accounts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon when located.
