June 8: An American Speaks
RANTS: I am an American. I am the liberal, progressives' worst nightmare. I am an American. I know my neighbors, their names and I must be twisted or abnormal.

I believe the money I earn belongs to me and my family, not some liberal, government, elected official, be it Democratic or Republican.

I think owning a gun doesn't make you a killer; it makes you a smart American. I still believe it is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. I also believe that if you own a gun, you should know how to use it and how to take care of it. It is called responsibility.

If you were born here and don't like it, you are free to move to any Socialist country in the world.

And, if you don't like the way things are here, go back to where you came from and change your own country. When I call a business, any business, I am sick and tired of hearing a recording of punching number 1 for English or number 2 for Spanish. I believe when you are selling me anything, do it in English. This is the United States. We speak and read English here.

I still think Jane Fonda should have been tried for treason. I believe that wrestling is fake; I don't waste my time watching or arguing about it. I believe everyone has the right to pray to his or her God when or wherever they want.

I believe anyone who burns the American flag in this country, should be escorted by a law official, held in jail until your case is heard as bench court trial and go to jail. While you are there, you have an equal opportunity to join a gang and get a tattoo. I believe it doesn't take a village a raise a child. I believe it takes two parents, a man and a woman. Not two men or two women.

It is not the school district's responsibility to teach your "little darling" manners, personal grooming, respect of others and their property. It is yours not the school system. Be responsible for your own actions and your children and quit blaming everyone else.

I believe policemen have every right to pull you over if you are breaking the law, regardless of who you think you are. I don't mind having my picture shown on my driver's license or my voter's registration card. I think it's good. And I'm proud that God is written on my money. I believe if you are too stupid to know how a ballot works, I don't want you deciding who should be running the country for the next four years. I don't like any of the candidates in the upcoming presidential election. Everyone knows their names, faces and platform and how they talk and talk and talk. Congress runs this country.

If I had a magic wand, I would wave it over Congress, fire all of them and start all over, sending the lobbyists and special-interest groups packing.

Face it, when someone elected has honorable intentions and goes to Congress, they are entering a snake pit.

My heroes are the early immigrants who wanted a better life and not to live under British rule. They believed in themselves. My heroes are my parents, my grandparents, who had much harsher lives than I have had. They lived, raised a family and survived with dignity through wars and the Depression, as so did many, many thousands.

I thank God every time I think about it for the thousands and thousands of men and women who lost limbs and sacrificed their lives over the years so that I still have the right to write to a newspaper column.

I still believe in the American dream.

I believe anyone can accomplish and better their lives if they are willing to work hard. I still believe this is still best country in the world. God Bless America.
