The wind machine went back on Saturday as a new low pressure area has developed north of Amarillo. Rather windy conditions should continue into Tuesday until it has moved northeastward up the Plains and out of range. Otherwise, Saturday was again warm and humid.

Temperatures ran near Friday’s levels, and were about 7 degrees above normal. Similar temperatures are likely Sunday, with readings Monday and Tuesday perhaps a degree or so lower. Low temperatures Saturday morning were from the middle 70s in the north and west to near 80 in the south. These were near Friday’s.

Low temperatures Sunday morning should be similar, with slightly lower temperatures possible Monday and Tuesday morning from slightly drier air. High readings Saturday afternoon were from near 90 to the middle 90s, and were near Friday’s.

High readings Sunday through Tuesday should continue running in the 90s, with Tuesday’s temperatures perhaps a bit lower. Winds Saturday were southerly at 10-20 mph with higher gusts. Similar winds are likely through Tuesday.

Skies were again cloudy around daybreak, and became partly cloudy by mid-day. This pattern should also repeat Sunday and Monday. Tyler’s highest sustaining wind Saturday was southerly at 22 mph with a peak gust of 29 mph and an average velocity of 13.4 mph. Tyler’s average wind velocity on Friday was 12.4 mph.

Saturday’s average relative humidity was 64 percent, with similar values likely Sunday through Tuesday. Friday’s average relative humidity was 63 percent.

There were a few isolated showers over the eastern counties Saturday afternoon.

Isolated showers from daytime heating are possible Sunday. Shower activity may increase Monday and Tuesday as another upper air disturbance crosses the Plains, and a cold front approaches Red River.

Tyler’s high temperature Saturday of 94 came at 4:26 p.m., following the day’s low of 77 at 5:56 a.m. Saturday’s was the warmest day of the season thus far, and the highest temperature since August 27, 2007, when the mercury reached 96.
