Schools Recognize Dean’s Lists and Honors
  • East Texas Baptist University has recognized its students for outstanding academic achievement during the 2008 Spring Semester with the release of the Spring Dean’s List with Honors and Dean’s List.

  • Benjamin Behnke, of Hawkins, and Bethany Lytle, of Ben Wheeler, earned recognition to the ETBU Dean’s List with Honors.

    Travis Jones, a senior ETBU, also is on the Dean's List with Honors for the 2008 Spring semester. He graduated from Christian Heritage School in Tyler in 2006. This summer he is an intern at Guidestone Financial Resources in Dallas.

  • Kerri Ann Eisenbach, Freshman at Texas A&M Universtity, achieved a 3.80 GPA for the second term of the 2007-2008 school year qualifying her for the Dean’s List for the term.

  • She also achieved a cumulative GPA for the year of 3.733.

  • Trenton Huckaby, a 2006 graduate of Troup High School, was named to the Texas Tech Dean’s Honor List. He is double majoring in Architecture and Business.

  • Michael S. Stone, of Tyler, was inducted into the Samford University chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta honor society for freshman students on April 28.

  • Membership in Alpha Lambda Delta is open to full-time freshman students who earn a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 during their first semester of study and rank in the top 20 percent of their class.

  • Nytesia Ross, a student at James S. Hogg Middle School in Tyler, was recognized for academic achievement as a United States National Honor Student Award winner. Her name will appear in the U.S. Achievement Academy’s official yearbook, which is published nationally.

  • Miss Ross also was nominated by the Academy of Who’s Who Among All-American Scholars for the Top 10 percent for a scholarship. She was inducted in to the Olen J. Franklin Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society by the middle school’s faculty council.

    Miss Ross is the daughter of Sonya Poe and granddaughter of Dorothy Poe-Johnson.

  • Whitehouse High School student Meredith Mohr, of Tyler, was selected for membership in the National Society of High School Scholars in April. The NSHSS recognizes academic excellence at the high school level.

  • Miss Mohr participated in her high school newspaper, UIL journalism team, Students for Jesus and is a member of the National Honor Society.

  • Texas State University-San Marcos announced 10 area residents among those named to the Dean’s Honor Roll this spring.

  • Benjamin L. Campbell, of Flint;

    Megan L. Honea, of Tyler;

    Joshua L. Booker, of Tyler;

    Matthew T. Seliga, of Tyler;

    Kimberly A. Reeves, of Tyler;

    Nicholas D. Brackett, of Tyler;

    Peyton L. Carroll, of Tyler;

    Heather B. Buffington, of Tyler;

    Kayla K. Zemer, of Whitehouse.

  • Students from Hubbard Middle School have been selected for participation in Education in Action’s summer 2008 Lone Star Leadership Academy programs. The students are Emem David, Brian Eng, Lindsey Latson, and Vivian Villapudua.
