Warm, Windy Weather Expected To Continue
Warm and windy weather will continue Wednesday and Thursday ahead of a weak upper air storm system, which might bring a few showers late this week. The day began cloudy Tuesday after mostly fair skies overnight. Skies cleared at mid-morning, and the afternoon was partly cloudy.
Tuesday’s temperatures ran a degree or so above those of Monday, and were about 6 degrees above normal. Similar temperatures are likely Wednesday, with slight warming for Thursday before readings lower slightly beginning Friday. Low readings Tuesday morning were a few degrees warmer than Monday’s because of stronger overnight winds. Minimum temperatures were in the 70s at all reporting stations, with similar low temperatures forecast for Wednesday morning, and slightly higher low readings for Thursday and Friday mornings.
Afternoon high readings were in the 90s at all stations, and were near Monday’s. High temperatures. Wednesday and Thursday should be in the lower to middle 90s, with near to lower 90-degree readings forecast for Friday afternoon.
Winds were southerly at 5-10 mph Monday evening, increased to 10-15 mph before dawn, and to 10-20 mph during the day with higher gusts. A wind advisory is displayed for Wednesday and will likely be necessary Thursday, as south winds will increase to 15-25 mph both days, with gusts near 30 mph Wednesday and 35 mph Thursday. This is because of a deepening low pressure area over the Plains, pulling air out of strengthening high pressure over the Eastern United States.
The low is deepening in response to the upper air storm forecast for Friday.
Tyler’s highest sustaining wind Tuesday was southerly at 23 mph with a peak gust of 28 mph, and an average velocity of 16.8 mph. Monday’s average wind velocity was 12.4 mph.
Tuesday’s average relative humidity was 65 percent, with similar values likely Wednesday and higher values both Thursday and Friday.
