2-Year-Old Recovering After Deadly Wreck
PALESTINE — A 2-year-old boy remains in serious condition inside the Parkland Hospital burn unit after suffering severe burns following a fiery single car crash that killed his caretaker.

Sandra Green Little, 67, of Frankston, died when the 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe she was driving southbound on Highway 287 north of Elkhart slid off the road at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 10. Ms. Little overcorrected the vehicle which skidded across the two lanes of traffic down a steep embankment and struck a tree on the passenger side, Texas Department of Public Safety said. Anderson County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Gary Thomas pronounced Ms. Little dead at the scene. The child, Tristan Hyatt, of Frankston, was saved by one or two of the passersby that gathered quickly at the scene of the crash, Thomas said. Thomas said the child was behind the driver seat in a car seat in the vehicle’s secondary seating area and was rescued moments before the vehicle became engulfed. Thomas said he spoke recently with the child’s parents who said the boy would remain in the hospital for another 4 to 6 weeks while undergoing skin grafts.
