Brook Hill's 2008 Graduation Ceremony
The Brook Hill School in Bullard held their 7th graduation ceremony on Saturday night.
Thirty-five seniors walked the stage with acceptances to 74 colleges and universities across the United States.
This group of seniors was honored with the largest amount of scholarship dollars in the school’s history.
Over 2.2 million dollars was offered to these fine young men and women, all of whom will move on to further their education.
The Class of ’08 will be attending Virginia Military Institute, Indiana University, Baylor University, Texas A & M, Penn State, Belmont University and Pratt Institute along with several other top colleges.
The Brook Hill School was honored to have Tom Harken, Literacy Activist and Entrepreneur, address the graduates.
For the first time, students wore a variety of colored cords and drapes representing special honors and recognition they had received including Dual Credit Graduates, Blood Donors and most recorded Community Service hours.
The commencement speaker for this year’s graduation was Tom Harken. From childhood illness, illiteracy and door-to-door selling, Mr. Harken went on to build multi-million dollar businesses in the recreational vehicle and restaurant fields before devoting full-time to his passions – literacy, education, and patriotism.
Mr. Harken shared his positive life approach with the audience while assuring the graduates, “If I can do it, so can you!”
The Brook Hill School's seventh graduating class celebrates after commencement exercises on Saturday.
The evening concluded with a solo by Landry Humphries as part of a guitar, violin and drum trio including Hee Chan Chang and Cody Franklin who performed the hymn, “All Creatures of our God and King”.
The tossing of the caps was then timed perfectly with the traditional firing of the Brook Hill cannon.
