The Chang Family Trio Performs At Brook Hill
Patrons of the arts were enchanted Thursday night during a Celebration Concert at the Brook Hill School which featured the Chang Family Trio from South Korea.
The evening opened with award-winning performances by members of the Brook Hill orchestra who had received recognition on the regional and state level of TAPPS competition.
This portion of the concert concluded with Concert Master Hee Chan Chang spotlighted during a performance of Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade".
Mr. Chang, a senior at Brook Hill and an award-winning violinist, then enthralled the audience with solo performances of “Sonata No. 3 “Ballade” by Ysaye and “Sonata No 1” by Bach with astounding nuances of dynamics, technique and tempo.
The attendees were held spellbound by the beauty of the music provided by Hee Chan and his brother, Sung Chan, a graduate of the Julliard Preparatory program, multiple international music contest winner, and currently a “Young Genius Artist” at the Korean National University of Arts who will return to Julliard this fall to begin his graduate studies in cello.
Mrs. Sam Sook Joung, the young men’s mother, also accompanied her sons on several hymn arrangements for violin, cello, and piano.
“It will be hours before my feet touch the floor after such an uplifting evening,” said concertgoer Gayla Amerman from Dallas.
