JHS Students Visit Car Dealership
Jacksonville High School students had the opportunity to visit Bacon Chevrolet dealership on Tuesday.
The visit was the culmination of the unit on consumer purchasing that JHS Social Studies teacher Kandie Bruckner has students participate in each year.
“The lesson has the students researching and buying a car,” explained Mrs. Bruckner. “Most of the work is done online but this year I decided it might be helpful for students to visit a dealership and talk with a salesman.”
Students had the opportunity to view both practical and dream cars. They also were able to ask questions and listen to advice offered by salesman, Paul Laney.

Elementary Choir Awarded
JISD’s East Side Elementary School choir poses received a “Marvelous Musicians” trophy while participating in the East Texas Music Festival in Athens on May 6.
The choir is made up of about 60 third- and fourth-grade students who volunteer to come early before school once a week for practice or stay late one day a week for practice. This is the second year the choir has been at East Side.
