“Ice Bowl,” shown above, is one of the better silver pieces which illustrates the theme of the Tyler Museum of Art’s fundraiser, “La Table des Artistes — Silversmiths,” to be held May 31. “Ice Bowl” is by Gorham Manufacturing Co., Providence, R.I., and is on loan by Jean and Graham Devoe Williford Charitable Trust.
TYLER, TX— A generous serving of old-world elegance awaits Tyler Museum of Art patrons as the TMA prepares the settings for its spring fundraiser, La Table des Artistes – Silversmiths, to be held in the Museum’s Bell Gallery, 1300 S. Mahon Ave. adjacent to the Tyler Junior College campus.
This black-tie event is scheduled for Saturday, May 31. For reservations and ticket information, contact Caroline King Wylie, TMA Development Coordinator for Membership and Special Events, at (903) 595-1001, ext. 216.
“Our members expect a certain level of sophistication and glamour at our fundraisers and special events, and we believe this extraordinary evening will more than meet those exacting standards of elegance and class,” event coordinator Betty Summers said. “Our guests truly will be transported back in time as they experience tables dressed with antique silver from private collections at a seated, four-course dinner catered by George of Dallas – and of course, the ‘Champagne Auction’ featuring 10 very select items for bidding.”
The evening’s events are set to begin at 7 p.m. with cocktails and viewing of the antique silver in the gallery, followed at 7:45 p.m. by dinner, the “Champagne Auction,” and the presentation of the 2007 Collectors’ Circle gift to the TMA’s Permanent Collection.
“Seating is limited, so don’t delay in making your reservations for a place at the table on this unique event,” Mrs. Summers said.
Honorary hosts for La Table des Artistes are the Tyler Museum of Art 2008 Collectors’ Circle. Event sponsors are Bridge Wealth Management, LLC, Michelle and Tim Brookshire, Classic Mercedes-Benz, East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System, Debra and Jack King Jr., TWO-0-FIVE, and Valley House Gallery. Proceeds from the evening support the exhibitions and programs of the Tyler Museum of Art.
The Tyler Museum of Art is located at 1300 S. Mahon Ave., adjacent to the Tyler Junior College campus off East Fifth Street. Regular hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Light lunch is available in the Museum Cafe from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and the TMA Gift Shop is open during exhibition hours.
