The 18th Annual KTBB-David Smoak Scholastic All-Stars banquet is scheduled for 7 p.m. today at the Rose Garden Building.

Twenty-four high school student athletes were selected from almost 100 nominations for their excellence in community work, athletics, campus leadership and academics.

The list includes 13 valedictorians and four salutatorians. It averages a 2.7 class ranking and 99.95 GPA.

Girls named to the team: Frankston’s Kelli Austin; Union Grove’s Katelyn Bradshaw; Garrison’s Sydni Bradshaw; John Tyler’s Angela Frost; Harmony’s Kara Parsons; Winona’s Holly Phelps; Henderson’s Madison Phenix; Chapel Hill’s Courtney Pinkerton; Cushing’s Sammi Jo Pruitt; Quitman’s Lindsey Weems; Robert E. Lee’s Sara Whitmer; and LaPoynor’s Megan Wilson.

Boys all-stars: Longview’s Blake Bledsoe; Beckville’s Seth Hubbard; Palestine Westwood’s David Kavetski; Palestine Westwood’s Louis Kavetski; Arp’s Christopher Keith; New Diana’s Christopher Moore; West Rusk’s Matt Morton; Marshall’s Nathaniel Primous; Alba-Golden’s Andrew Ramirez; Big Sandy’s Trevor Reed; Alto’s Clayton Scott; and Whitehouse’s Jordan “Taylor” Sulser.

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marcus Spears will be the guest speaker.

Spears, a former first-round pick by Dallas, is entering his fourth year with the Cowboys.
