Planning and Zoning commissioners approved a zoning change on Tuesday that will allow for construction of a three-story hotel on McDonald Road.
The item was tabled at the last Planning and Zoning meeting because commissioners felt the final site plan needed a few adjustments to meet the needs of adjacent neighborhoods.
Commissioners recommended that the planned four-story Staybridge Suites hotel be reduced to three stories and that a green zone of tall evergreen trees be constructed as a buffer between the hotel and a residential area nearby.
The builders accepted the recommendations and presented a new site plan to the commission on Tuesday.
Commissioners approved the plan unanimously.
"They did all of the things you have to do to be a good neighbor," said Planning Director Barbara Holly. "They listened to all of the recommendations, and it passed."
