Tears of joy filled the eyes of James Pollard’s family Monday morning at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport after his return from a 14-month deployment to Iraq.
After embracing his family, who greeted him at the airport, he gazed at them with a look of comfort and peace.
“It’s good to see all my friends and visit all the familiar places,” Pollard said.
Pollard is in a long-range surveillance unit within the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, said James Pollard, Pollard’s father.
After spending only 10 days with his family, Pollard must check in at Fort Bragg where he begins training for an August deployment to Afghanistan, Rhonda Pollard said.
“Being a military family, you learn to deal with it. It’s actually normal for us,” Mrs. Pollard said.
The Pollard family moved to Tyler in 1997 after Mr. Pollard retired from his 26 year career in the Army.
