Rebecca Lynn Pittman, who was arrested in Washington for her alleged involvement in the “Mineola Swingers’ Club,” was in a Smith County court Wednesday and was jailed on $1 million bond.

The 32-year-old woman was arrested March 26 in Wenatchee, Wash., by U.S. marshals on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child for a July 1, 2004, incident, for which she was indicted on Feb. 14.

Prosecutors have said they believe she was involved in the swingers’ club, where several young children were forced to dance and perform sex acts for a paying audience.

Ms. Pittman appeared in 241st District Judge Jack Skeen Jr.’s court briefly Wednesday to be advised of her rights and of the charge against her. Skeen appointed defense attorney Clifton Roberson to represent the defendant.

Since Ms. Pittman faces up to a life sentence for the first-degree felony charge and because she was arrested in Washington, Skeen set her bond at $1 million.

Ms. Pittman was extradited from Washington back to Smith County, where she was booked into jail Tuesday evening.

She is accused of holding down an 11-year-old girl while she was allegedly raped by Dennis Boyd Pittman, Ms. Pittman’s husband at the time.

The alleged victim, now 15, has testified in two co-defendants’ trials about being sexually assaulted by Dennis Pittman.

A two-year investigation resulted in six people being charged with seven felonies for the swingers’ club case. The defendants include Dennis Pittman, Jamie Pittman, 36, Shauntel Loraine Mayo, 29, and Patrick “Booger Red” Kelly, 41, all of Tyler; Shelia Darlene Sones, 48, Mineola; and Jimmy Dale Sones, 33, Brownsboro.

The victims in the case include three siblings, who at the time of the outcries in 2005 were a 7-year-old girl, a 6-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl. The siblings’ aunt, who was 6, was also forced to dance and have sex with the other children.

In January, Jamie Pittman was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child and sentenced to life in prison for his involvement.

On May 8, Ms. Mayo was convicted on three felony counts for her involvement and was sentenced to life in prison and two 20-year sentences.

Dennis Pittman was captured in Sevierville, Tenn., on July 25.

Assistant Smith County district attorneys Joe Murphy and Zach Davis are prosecuting the cases.
